What are photochromic lenses?
They are light-intelligent lenses that automatically adapt to the changing surrounding light. They darken when the sun is out and clear up when you’re indoors or when the sky is overcast.
How do photochromic lenses work?
A photochromic treatment must be applied to regular lenses, with or without prescription. This treatment is composed of lots and lots of photochromic molecules that continually react and adapt to UV rays.
Do photochromic lenses block blue light?
Yes! Blue light and UV rays are on the same spectrum, but blue light is not as strong. Photochromic lenses can protect against both blue light and UV rays, reducing glare, eye fatigue, and strain. They allow the right amount of light to reach your eyes, keeping them comfortable.
Are photochromic lenses as efficient as regular sunglasses?
Photochromic lenses are a perfectly safe alternative to traditional tinted lenses, as they provide both 100% UVA and UVB protection.
Do photochromic lenses work inside a car?
Yes! Car windows block UV rays, but new photochromic lenses can also adjust to the brightness behind a windshield.
Are photochromic lenses available in different colours?
Photochromic lenses offer both functionality and protection. They come in vibrant tints that can be mixed and matched with our frames' colors. They are also available as mirrored lenses.
Do photochromic lenses ever completely clear up?
Many people think that photochromic lenses don’t get dark enough, or that they don’t fade to clear fast enough. That might have been true 20 years ago, but the technology behind photochromic lenses has made incredible advancements since. Find out for yourself, something tells us you won’t regret it!
